Hamm's Club Monument Dedication

September 16, 2005

On Friday, September 16, 2005 the Hamm’s Club and the City of St. Paul presented to the world the monument to the Theodore Hamm Brewing Company and the Hamm’s Bear.  It was a truly monumental event for the Hamm’s Club and a celebration for all those able to attend.

The monument project was no simple task.  Many Hamm’s fans had been monitoring its progress and are well aware of the many obstacles along the way.  With the help of many people the mission was accomplished and on September 16, 2005, the monument dedication occurred, which was attended by over 100 people.  Steve Miner served as Master of Ceremonies for the event and speakers included Dan Donovan, a brewery union representative, Bill Stein, Kirk Schnitker, Mayor Kelly, and Council Member Thune.  It was a festive event that is a testament to perseverance and will of Hamm’s folks far and near.  A reception followed the dedication event at the Great Waters Brewery in the Hamm Building and a special brew called the Teddy’s Bear Brew was served along with, you got it, Hamm’s on tap.  Thank you to all who attended.

Make certain to visit the monument from time to time.  It’s an attraction worth visiting.   If you haven’t seen it you’ll love what you see!  It’s a tribute to an advertising Bear, to a brewery and piece of our history that Hamm’s fans are so very fond of.  The Monument is located on the 7th Place Mall between St. Peter & Wabasha in downtown St. Paul in front of the Hamm Building.  Map of Monument Site.  For directions click here and then click on directions to for directions from your location.  The monument is located just NE of the red star (Great Waters Brewery) on the map in front of the Hamm Building, between St. Peter Street and Wabasha.
