Hamm's Club Monument Dedication
September 16, 2005
On Friday, September 16, 2005 the Hammís Club and the City of St. Paul presented to the world the monument to the Theodore Hamm Brewing Company and the Hammís Bear. It was a truly monumental event for the Hammís Club and a celebration for all those able to attend.
The monument project was no simple task. Many Hammís fans had been monitoring its progress and are well aware of the many obstacles along the way. With the help of many people the mission was accomplished and on September 16, 2005, the monument dedication occurred, which was attended by over 100 people. Steve Miner served as Master of Ceremonies for the event and speakers included Dan Donovan, a brewery union representative, Bill Stein, Kirk Schnitker, Mayor Kelly, and Council Member Thune. It was a festive event that is a testament to perseverance and will of Hammís folks far and near. A reception followed the dedication event at the Great Waters Brewery in the Hamm Building and a special brew called the Teddyís Bear Brew was served along with, you got it, Hammís on tap. Thank you to all who attended.
Make certain to visit the monument from time to time. Itís an attraction worth visiting. If you havenít seen it youíll love what you see! Itís a tribute to an advertising Bear, to a brewery and piece of our history that Hammís fans are so very fond of.
